Atlanta Braves catcher Sean Murphy will be getting the day off on Saturday as the Braves continue a three-game set against the Oakland Athletics. Instead, Travis d'Arnaud will get the nod behind the dish and bat in the six-hole. Murphy was recently reinstated from the injured list with an oblique injury this week but has tallied just two hits across four games. Travis d'Arnaud has posted a solid .260/.329/.480 line with five long balls and 21 RBI through 43 games this season. He is worth considering in DFS this afternoon as he will face Oakland right-hander Aaron Brooks, who enters this game with a 3.63 ERA and 1.56 WHIP.

He's a must-start in all fantasy leagues when he's healthy, but be aware that the Braves will likely ease him back into catching duties. Veteran Travis d'Arnaud is inevitably going to lose playing time when Murphy is back.

Not only was it a good sign to see the 29-year-old hit a no-doubt blast to straightaway center field in this one, he also stayed in the game longer than expected at catcher, so he must be feeling pretty good after suffering a Grade 1 left-oblique strain on March 29. In addition to his monstrous long ball, Murphy threw out the only runner that attempted to steal on him. Murphy will get Wednesday off before starting again on Thursday. He's likely to play in a couple more rehab games before coming off the injured list later this weekend. Murphy will probably be eased back in with the Braves, but his impending return is going to mean less playing time for Travis d'Arnaud.

Murphy has been on the injured list since Opening Day when he suffered an oblique injury. The 29-year-old may require a little extra time to get back into game shape, but the Braves should have their primary backstop with the big-league club within the next couple weeks. Murphy was coming off an All-Star campaign in 2023, and with Travis d'Arnaud suffering a head contusion Friday night, the Braves may need him back sooner rather than later, depending on the results of some additional evaluation of d'Arnaud on Saturday. In the meantime, Chadwick Tromp may have to serve as Atlanta's primary backstop.
