Sean Murphy Getting Saturday Off

Atlanta Braves catcher Sean Murphy will be getting the day off on Saturday as the Braves continue a three-game set against the Oakland Athletics. Instead, Travis d'Arnaud will get the nod behind the dish and bat in the six-hole. Murphy was recently reinstated from the injured list with an oblique injury this week but has tallied just two hits across four games. Travis d'Arnaud has posted a solid .260/.329/.480 line with five long balls and 21 RBI through 43 games this season. He is worth considering in DFS this afternoon as he will face Oakland right-hander Aaron Brooks, who enters this game with a 3.63 ERA and 1.56 WHIP.

Braves Reinstate Sean Murphy From The Injured List

The Atlanta Braves reinstated catcher Sean Murphy (oblique) from the injured list on Monday and placed outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. (knee) on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. The team also recalled outfielder J.P. Martinez from the minors and designated infielder Joey Wendle for assignment. Murphy is finally back with the team after suffering a Grade 1 left-oblique strain on Opening Day. Murphy is right back in the starting lineup for Monday's Memorial Day game against the visiting Washington Nationals and left-hander Mitchell Parker, getting the start behind the plate and batting fifth for the Braves. He could be eased back into the fold for the Braves behind the plate, but Murphy should be rostered in all fantasy leagues. His return means less playing time for veteran Travis d'Arnaud, who finds himself on the bench Monday.

Sean Murphy Goes Deep In Another Rehab Game

Atlanta Braves catcher Sean Murphy (oblique), who hasn't played since injuring his oblique on Opening Day, looks to be close to making a return to the big leagues. Murphy went 2-for-6 with the second home run on his minor-league rehab assignment, a double, two RBI, a run scored and two strikeouts for Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday while serving as the designated hitter. It's a great sign for the 29-year-old backstop, although Atlanta will probably want to see him catch a game in the minors before reinstating him from the injured list. Either way, fantasy managers should be happy to know that Murphy's return to the big leagues is right around the corner. He's a must-start in all fantasy leagues when he's healthy, but be aware that the Braves will likely ease him back into catching duties. Veteran Travis d'Arnaud is inevitably going to lose playing time when Murphy is back.
