Cleveland Guardians catcher/outfielder David Fry (elbow) is serving as the designated hitter and will bat fifth for the team in Monday's series opener against the hosting Baltimore Orioles and rookie left-hander Cade Povich. Fry left the series finale on Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays early with right-elbow inflammation, but he's back in action a day later, albeit as the DH. The 28-year-old will continue to be an option for Cleveland at both catcher and in the outfield once he gets past his elbow injury. The former seventh-round pick of the Milwaukee Brewers in 2018 has been a revelation this year for fantasy managers that plucked him off the waiver wire, as he's hitting .312/.429/.526 with a .955 OPS, eight homers, 31 RBI and four steals on the year. He's started coming back down to Earth this month, though, going 11-for-49 (.225) with no homers, four RBI and 10 K's in 15 games.

Hopefully he is able to return sooner rather than later.

The 28-year-old Fry has been one of MLB's most surprising early-season stories as he's hitting .352 with eight homers, 27 runs, 27 RBI, and four steals across 105 at-bats. Fry has been exceptionally hot of late, batting .425 with six homers over his past 15 games. Fantasy gamers should be streaming Fry for as long as he continues to hit the ball consistently.

Fry played left field, going 3-for-5 with two singles, a three-run home run, and a stolen base. The 28-year-old is eligible to play multiple positions, notably including catcher, and has provided a bit of everything in his playing time. He is now slashing .357/.492/.622 with seven HR, 23 RBI, and four stolen bases in 128 plate appearances and has earned regular playing time in May. Fry is currently rostered in 76 percent of leagues, meaning he may still be available in some roto leagues or points leagues where fantasy managers are looking for a hot bat to plug into their lineups.

The 28-year-old has been one of the Guardians' most unexpected producers this season as he's hitting .360 with six homers, 22 runs, 19 RBI, and three steals over 86 at-bats while playing all over the diamond. Fry has been red-hot of late, hitting .556 with three homers, eight runs, and seven RBI over his past seven games. Whether the veteran is able to produce consistently over an entire MLB season remains to be seen but Fry is worth a spot on all fantasy rosters until he slows down.
