David Fry Serving As DH Against Orioles

Cleveland Guardians catcher/outfielder David Fry (elbow) is serving as the designated hitter and will bat fifth for the team in Monday's series opener against the hosting Baltimore Orioles and rookie left-hander Cade Povich. Fry left the series finale on Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays early with right-elbow inflammation, but he's back in action a day later, albeit as the DH. The 28-year-old will continue to be an option for Cleveland at both catcher and in the outfield once he gets past his elbow injury. The former seventh-round pick of the Milwaukee Brewers in 2018 has been a revelation this year for fantasy managers that plucked him off the waiver wire, as he's hitting .312/.429/.526 with a .955 OPS, eight homers, 31 RBI and four steals on the year. He's started coming back down to Earth this month, though, going 11-for-49 (.225) with no homers, four RBI and 10 K's in 15 games.

David Fry Exits Early With Elbow Inflammation

Cleveland Guardians catcher David Fry (elbow) left Sunday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays in the third inning with right elbow inflammation. There was concern that Fry was dealing with a head injury after he was struck in the head by a Danny Jansen practice swing in the first inning, but that does not appear to be related. Fry is considered day-to-day for now with more information to come. The 28-year-old has been a surprisingly productive fantasy asset this season as he is slashing .312/.429/.526 with eight home runs, 31 RBI and four stolen bases across 55 games. Hopefully he is able to return sooner rather than later.

David Fry Stays Hot, Homers Friday

Cleveland Guardians catcher David Fry continued his unexpected early-season success on Friday in a 7-1 win over the Washington Nationals. Fry went 1-for-3 with a three-run homer and a walk to help power Cleveland to their eighth straight home win. The 28-year-old Fry has been one of MLB's most surprising early-season stories as he's hitting .352 with eight homers, 27 runs, 27 RBI, and four steals across 105 at-bats. Fry has been exceptionally hot of late, batting .425 with six homers over his past 15 games. Fantasy gamers should be streaming Fry for as long as he continues to hit the ball consistently.
