Houston Rockets point guard Fred VanVleet (hip) will miss Friday's contest against Portland. He gets the night off because of a right hip contusion after erupting for a season-high 42 points on Thursday versus Utah. VanVleet's absence will likely open the door for Aaron Holiday to join the starting unit, although Jalen Green and Amen Thompson will be the biggest beneficiaries in the situation. Both should get more playmaking opportunities and shots. Green ate up just 19 minutes on Thursday and should be eager to perform well in a favorable matchup.

Houston Rockets guard Fred VanVleet helped lead his team to a 122-104 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Sunday. The veteran point guard was on the court for 38 minutes, recording 22 points (5-of-8 FGs, 10-of-10 FTs) while grabbing four rebounds, nine assists, two steals, and two 3-pointers. VanVleet has been on fire lately, collecting 21 points in three of the last five Rockets contests. Despite a low field-goal percentage for most of the season, the 30-year-old remains a valuable asset to fantasy managers who have him rostered.

Houston Rockets guard Fred VanVleet (groin) says he will play on Thursday against the New Orleans Pelicans. VanVleet has overcome a strained left groin following a five-game absence prior to the All-Star break. It's unclear if FVV will carry a minutes restriction on Thursday, but he'll be a shaky DFS play against a Pelicans squad that sits sixth in the league in opponent field-goal percentage (46.5%). VanVleet still belongs in all season-long lineups, while Amen Thompson figures to revert to Houston's bench and lose fantasy appeal.

Houston Rockets guard Fred VanVleet (groin) won't return to the court until after the All-Star break. Including Monday's game, Vanvleet has missed four straight games due to a lingering groin issue. At this point, the Rockets are going to play it safe and shut down Vanvleet so he can get some rest. In the meantime, Amen Thompson should continue to start while Vanvleet is out. He's well worth a look as a streaming option while he's in the starting five. Also, Jalen Green figures to handle most of the ball-handling responsibilities which should boost his fantasy value.

Houston Rockets guard Fred VanVleet (groin) has been ruled out ahead of Tuesday's game against the Indiana Pacers. It's being reported that Vanvleet could be sidelined for roughly a week due to this issue. Possibly, the Rockets hold out Vanvleet until the All-Star Break, but they will likely take it as day-to-day. Amen Thompson started in place of Vanvleet when he missed a last game last month. Thompson would be worth a look as a streaming option if he gets another chance in the starting unit.
