The Cincinnati Reds optioned left-handed pitcher Sam Moll to Triple-A Louisville on Monday. Moll has been great out of the bullpen for the Reds in 2024, allowing zero earned runs across five inningssince making his season debut in late April. However, with Cincinnati needing a roster spot to officially activate Frankie Montas (forearm) for Tuesday's start, the southpaw is the odd man out. The left-hander has a career 3.31 ERA and 133 strikeouts in 147 appearances in his MLB career.

The Cincinnati Reds have activated left-handed reliever Sam Moll (shoulder) from the injured list on Tuesday. Moll began the season on the injured list due to a shoulder impingement. The left-hander went 2-3 with a 3.03 ERA last season with the Reds in 70 games, including one start. By activating Moll, Cincinnati optioned right-handed pitcher Casey Legumina.

Manager David Bell said that Moll is building his arm back up after being delayed in spring training with a left-shoulder impingement. He was able to pitch in a few Cactus League games as well as the team's scrimmage on Wednesday. Barring a setback in the minors, Moll should be able to rejoin Cincy's big-league bullpen soon to provide relief depth. The former third-round pick by the Colorado Rockies in 2013 out of Memphis had a 3.30 ERA (3.27 FIP), a 1.23 WHIP, his first career save, 30 walks and 68 strikeouts in 70 outings (one start) over 62 1/3 innings with the Reds and Oakland Athletics last year.
