The Detroit Tigers are expected to option outfielder Parker Meadows to Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday before the team's game against the Guardians, per Detroit Free Press' Evan Petzold. The 24-year-old has slashed just .096/.224/.219 in 85 plate appearances. Ryan Vilade will be getting called up in a corresponding move and has been hitting well at Triple-A. Meadows is worth holding onto in dynasty leagues given his pedigree, but neither he nor Vilade are worth rostering in re-draft leagues at this time, as Vilade's role with the Tigers is unknown.

The young outfielder's tough season continued with an 0-for-2 effort in Friday's series opener, although he was robbed of a home run by the Royals' Adam Frazier at the right field wall. Meadows has been a major disappointment for fantasy managers who took a chance on the 24-year-old in drafts this spring as he's hitting just .079 (5-for-63) with two homers, three steals, and a .400 OPS across 72 plate appearances. He has posted a 12.5% BB% and has been bitten by a tiny .127 BABIP but he has also struck out in a whopping 40.3% of his plate appearances. His elite defense in center field has kept him in the big leagues but it wouldn't be surprising to see the club option him to the minors if his disastrous start at the plate continues.

It was a welcomed swing for the 24-year-old who has struggled mightily to begin the season. Following a big spring training, Meadows is now hitting just .077 (3-for-39) with a triple, a homer, and eight walks with a hefty 17 strikeouts across 47 trips to the plate. His excellent defense in center field has kept him in the lineup fairly regularly to begin the season but it's tough to see him sticking around in the big leagues if the bat can't turn around. He hit .232 with three homers and eight steals across 37 games in his MLB debut last season.
