Nolan Arenado Goes Deep In Loss To Reds

St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado provided one of the few bright spots in the team's 11-4 loss to the visiting division-rival Cincinnati Reds on Thursday, going 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a run scored and a strikeout. Arenado has missed several games over the last week with elbow and forearm injuries, but he's avoided a trip to the injured list and continues to produce modest numbers for his standards in 2024. The 33-year-old All-Star is now up to seven home runs while slashing .258/.313/.378 with a .691 OPS, 34 RBI and 27 runs scored in 283 at-bats. He has hit .260 (20-for-77) with two home runs, three doubles, eight RBI, six walks, 14 strikeouts, one stolen base and five runs scored in 21 games in the month of June.

Nolan Arenado Ready To Go On Wednesday

After the St. Louis Cardinals' game against the visiting Atlanta Braves was postponed on Tuesday due to rain, third baseman Nolan Arenado (forearm) is back in the starting lineup on Wednesday to face right-hander Reynaldo Lopez in Game 1 of a doubleheader. The 33-year-old All-Star has been beat up lately with forearm and elbow injuries, but he's back in action on Wednesday. However, there's a good chance Arenado will be held out for Game 2 against Atlanta. He's also hitting sixth in the batting order, which is the lowest he's hit in St. Louis' lineup in his four years with the team. The former second-rounder by the Colorado Rockies in 2009 has been struggling offensively in 2024 and enters Wednesday's double dip with a .257/.315/.371 slash line with only six home runs, 32 RBI and 26 runs scored in his 272 at-bats. Arenado has never faced Lopez in his career.

Nolan Arenado Returns To Cardinals Lineup

St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (forearm) is back at third base and is batting sixth in the order on Tuesday against the visiting Atlanta Braves and right-hander Reynaldo Lopez. Arenado has been beat up of late and missed the team's last two games due to left-forearm soreness. He also missed a game last week after being hit by a pitch in the elbow. The 33-year-old All-Star is back in there, though, albeit a little further down the batting order as he tries to turn his season around at the plate. Arenado has tailed off in the batting average department the last two years and is currently slashing only .257/.315/.371 with six home runs, 32 RBI and 26 runs scored in 71 games played. Fantasy managers shouldn't be expecting a return to the 30-homer mark in 2024 unless he goes on an absolutely crazy run at some point. He has never faced Lopez in his career.
