San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado went 2-for-5 with two long balls and five RBI on Saturday to lead the Padres to a victory. Machado hit a two-run shot in the third frame that scored Luis Arraez. Then, in the fifth, Machado hit a three-run blast that scored Jurickson Profar and Jake Cronenworth. The 31-year-old now sits with a .268/.319/.411 slash line with 10 home runs, 45 RBI, five stolen bases, and a 23:69 BB:K ratio. Machado should be expected to continue to be a top option at the hot corner for the remainder of the summer and have several prime RBI opportunities every game batting in the clean-up spot of a strong Padres lineup.
San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado went 4-for-5 with a double, three singles, an RBI, and two runs scored in Friday's 9-5 win over the Brewers. The 31-year-old has caught fire recently, going 11-for-24 (.458) over his last six games, including a home run, five RBI, and five runs scored. For the season, the veteran owns a .263-7-37-32-5 line with a .306 wOBA and 102 wRC+. His 22.0% K% is a career-high, but it is just 20.3% in June and has been trending down since the first month of the season, so he appears to be getting back on track.
San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado went 2-for-3 with three RBI and a walk in Thursday's victory versus the Milwaukee Brewers. Machado's first hit of the game came in the bottom of the first inning when he sent a pitch from Bryse Wilson 348-feet for his seventh homer of the season. Machado has been a bit banged up this season, recently missing a few games with a hip injury. For the season, Machado is now hitting .253 with seven homers, 36 RBI and five stolen bases. Machado's .684 OPS is a career low for the six-time All-Star, with injuries likely the biggest cause for that. Regardless, Machado has still had a solid season and should remain rostered in all formats.
San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado (hip) is day-to-day with what the club believes is a mild strain of an upper hip flexor. Machado sustained the injury while running to first base to try and beat out a double play in the fourth inning on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Angels, but he appears to have come away with a minor issue. It's still reasonable to expect him to sit out Thursday's series opener against the division-rival Arizona Diamondbacks, though. The 31-year-old All-Star infielder has picked it up at the plate lately following a slow start to the season, batting .322 with one home run and nine RBI over his last 17 games. For any games Machado may need to miss, Donovan Solano and Tyler Wade would likely form a platoon for at-bats at the hot corner.
San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado went 1-for-5 with two RBI during Thursday's 6-4 win over the Cincinnati Reds. The 31-year-old has not had the best year at the plate in 2024 and has not hit a home run since May 3. Machado owns a .230/.279/.361 slash line with five homers, 27 RBI and two stolen bases across 48 games. We may be watching Machado's decline happen in real time as he is on pace for some of the worst numbers of his career. Despite the slow start, he is still a top-10 fantasy option at third base due to the lack of depth at the position.
