Jung Hoo Lee To Have Surgery Next Tuesday

San Francisco Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee (shoulder) will have season-ending surgery on his dislocated left shoulder next Tuesday in Los Angeles, with Dr. Neal ElAttrache doing the procedure. Lee is expected to make a full recovery by the start of next spring. Manager Bob Melvin said Lee will remain around the team and rehab in San Francisco. The 25-year-old Japanese outfielder hit .262/.310/.331 with two home runs, four doubles, eight RBI, two stolen bases, 15 runs scored, 10 walks and 13 strikeouts in 158 plate appearances in his first 37 major-league games for the Giants before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury on May 12 against the Cincinnati Reds. Lee tore the labrum in his shoulder but should be ready to roll for the start of the 2025 season as San Fran's starting center fielder and leadoff hitter. If you haven't already done so in redraft leagues, Lee can be safely dropped now.

Jung Hoo Lee To Undergo Season-Ending Surgery

San Francisco Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee (shoulder) is reportedly scheduled to undergo season-ending surgery. The expectation was that Lee would miss significant time after crashing into the wall last weekend. The rookie outfielder will need season-ending surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder. This is an awful blow to the Giants roster as Lee was only able to play in 37 games during his first season with the Giants. The expectation is that Luis Matos will get significant playing time with Lee out of the picture for the rest of 2024.

Jung Hoo Lee's MRI Shows "Structural Damage"

The San Francisco Giants said that an MRI exam on outfielder Jung Hoo Lee (shoulder) showed "structural damage" in his left shoulder. Lee will go for a second opinion from Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles on Thursday. The 25-year-old rookie dislocated his shoulder when he crashed into the outfield wall early in Sunday's game and was placed on the injured list on Monday. Now that he's dealing with structural damage in his shoulder with the possibility of needing to go under the knife, fantasy managers may want to prepare for him to miss extended time. Lee has left a lot to be desired over the first month and a half in the big leagues with a .262/.310/.331 slash line with two homers, eight RBI and two steals. Luis Matos has started both games in center field from San Fran since Lee was hurt and figures to see much more playing time moving forward.
