Jonatan Clase Tallies Three Hits On Thursday

Seattle Mariners outfield prospect Jonatan Clase had a productive game on Thursday where he went 3-for-5 with a single, a triple, and a home run with one RBI and a stolen base. Clase has now tallied at least one hit in each of his past four games and holds an overall .281/.390/.485 slash line with seven long balls, 27 RBI, 23 swiped bags, and a 37:61 BB:K ratio in 50 games this season. The 22-year-old got a brief taste of the major leagues earlier this season, where he posted a mere .176 AVG in 15 games. However, he showcased his elite speed with two stolen bases during that short window. Clase has a strong chance of returning to the majors later this summer and is worth adding when promoted, as he will provide elite stolen base production.

Jonatan Clase Producing Since Return To Triple-A

Seattle Mariners outfield prospect Jonatan Clase was sent down to Triple-A Tacoma on June 3 and has been productive upon his return to the Rainiers. Clase is hitting .300 with Tacoma in June with a home run, five RBI, and six stolen bases. The No. 10 prospect for the Mariners started the season at Triple-A and got a taste of the big leagues, hitting .176 in 34 at-bats with three RBI and two stolen bases. The 22-year-old boasts top-end speed (70-grade) and translated that to 79 steals across two levels of the minors in 2023. Those wheels will play at any level, but Clase's next step is proving he can consistently get on base. If he improves in that regard, he could be an impact player in fantasy leagues of all sizes upon his return to Seattle.

Jonatan Clase Sent Back To The Minors

Seattle Mariners executive vice president and general manager of baseball operations Justin Hollander announced on Monday that the team optioned rookie outfielder Jonatan Clase to Triple-A Tacoma. The 22-year-old appeared in his first 15 big-league games and went 6-for-34 (.176) with no homers, a double, three RBI and 13 strikeouts in 35 plate appearances. In 28 games for Tacoma in 2024, Clase has hit .255 (28-for-110) with four home runs, 16 RBI and 12 stolen bases. The Mariners' No. 10 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, only started three games while with the big-league roster and could use more everyday playing time back on the farm. The Dominican switch-hitting outfielder relies mostly on speed, but there's also some intriguing power despite his 5-foot-9 frame. Clase is only worth stashing in dynasty/keeper leagues in 2024.
