Ian Happ Launches Go-Ahead Home Run

Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ played hero on Saturday afternoon with a go-ahead two-run shot in the eighth inning to power the Cubs over their division rival Milwaukee Brewers. Happ broke a tie game with his 11th home run off the season off Brewer reliever Joel Payamps. This was Happ's second long ball in the past three games and fifth of the month. The everyday left fielder in the Northside now holds a .231/.346/.422 slash line with 44 RBI and a 44:88 BB:K ratio. He has posted an above-average 12.2% barrel rate and 43.1% hard-hit rate, which suggests this power surge could continue into the second half of the summer. Happ remains a more valuable fantasy asset in points leagues due to his stellar 13.3% walk rate.

Ian Happ Socks Go-Ahead Homer Against Giants

Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ played the role of hero in Thursday afternoon's extra-inning win over the hosting San Francisco Giants, mashing his 10th home run of the year. Happ lifted a ball to center field off Giants right-hander Luke Jackson that hit the wall and went over for a go-ahead two-run homer in the 10th inning on Thursday. The streaky 29-year-old switch-hitter has been up and down for the Cubs all season long, slashing a pedestrian .228/.339/.408 with 42 RBI, 42 walks, 40 runs scored, and seven stolen bases through 272 at-bats. Without a consistent premium spot in Chicago's batting order, Happ has settled in as a lower-end fantasy option among outfielders.

Ian Happ Hits Eighth Homer On Monday

Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ homered and drove in three runs in Monday's 7-6 loss at the San Francisco Giants. Happ's eighth home run was a three-run shot in the top of the seventh inning that gave the Cubs a 6-3 lead as he finished with two hits and a walk in four plate appearances. He is slashing .229/.340/.400 with 36 RBI, 34 runs scored and six stolen bases. Happ is hurting fantasy managers with his batting average but makes up for it with his power and speed as he is on pace for 18 homers and could approach 15 steals.
