Harrison Bader Out On Wednesday

New York Mets outfielder Harrison Bader (head) is not in the team's starting lineup on Wednesday against the hosting Washington Nationals. Bader crashed into the outfield wall early in Tuesday's contest in D.C. and was removed from the game. The good news is that the 30-year-old passed concussion tests and should be considered day-to-day for now. Check back to see if he's available to return to the starting lineup on the Fourth of July on Thursday against the Nationals. With Bader out on Wednesday, Tyrone Taylor will patrol center field and will hit seventh in the batting order against Nationals left-hander Mitchell Parker. The 30-year-old former second-round pick by the Brewers in 2012 has minimal DFS upside given his .223/.270/.361 slash line on the year with four homers, 21 RBI and six stolen bases in 166 at-bats for the Mets in 2024.

Harrison Bader Leaves Early With Head/Neck Injury

New York Mets outfielder Harrison Bader (head, neck) hit the wall near the base of his head/neck in the third inning of Tuesday's game against the Washington Nationals and was forced to leave the game. Bader cleared tests and is hoping to play on Wednesday, so it appears that he has escaped a serious injury. Brandon Nimmo (head), who was held out of the starting lineup the last two days due to a laceration on his forehead that he suffered on a fall in his hotel room on Sunday night, took over for Bader in left field on Tuesday and went 2-for-3 with two RBI in the extra-inning victory. The 30-year-old Bader had cleared the fences twice in his last 10 games entering Tuesday's contest and is valuable in most fantasy leagues for his speed (13 stolen bases). Overall in 231 at-bats entering Tuesday, Bader was hitting .273/.319/.411 with six homers, 31 RBI and 33 runs scored.

Francisco Alvarez, Harrison Bader Resting Against Astros

New York Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez and outfielder Harrison Bader are both out of the lineup on Sunday for the series finale against the visiting Houston Astros. Luis Torrens is doing the catching and is batting eighth, with Brandon Nimmo in center field and hitting out of the two-hole against Astros right-hander Shawn Dubin. Alvarez will get a much-needed day of rest after starting each of the team's last 17 games. The 22-year-old backstop has been raking, too, slashing .471/.558/.822 in that time frame with three home runs and five doubles. Bader will get a day off after going 6-for-20 with two home runs, three doubles and two stolen bases while starting each of the last five games. Ben Gamel also draws into New York's lineup on Sunday in left field while batting seventh.
