Andres Gimenez Sparks Guardians Comeback Against Mets

Cleveland Guardians second baseman Andres Gimenez was pivotal in igniting a six-run offensive outburst as Cleveland came from behind to sweep the New York Mets on Wednesday. Gimenez came to bat with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning against Jose Quintana and delivered a game-tying, three-run blast to help swing momentum to the Guardians dugout. Gimenez finished the day 1-for-3, scoring two runs and knocking in three while notching his fourth homer of the season. The 25-year-old is putting together a nice season for the American League Central-leading Guardians and is firmly entrenched at the top of a potent lineup. It wouldn't be surprising to see Gimenez surpass his career-highs in both runs (76) and RBI (69) in 2024.

Andres Gimenez Goes Yard Against Twins

Cleveland Guardians second baseman Andres Gimenez went yard for the third time this season in Sunday's win over the division-rival Minnesota Twins, also drawing a walk in the victory. Gimenez took Twins right-hander Chris Paddack deep to plate Tyler Freeman in the first inning, later walking and scoring a run in the ninth frame. The 25-year-old former All-Star is on a prolific run during his current seven-game hitting streak, batting a torrid .464 (13-for-28) with two home runs, eight RBI, seven runs scored, and two stolen bases over this hot stretch as Cleveland's everyday No. 2 hitter. Up next for Gimenez is a three-game series starting on Monday against the New York Mets, the team that traded him away back in 2021. Last season, he went hitless in eight at-bats against the Mets.

Bo Naylor, Andres Gimenez Resting Against White Sox

Cleveland Guardians catcher Bo Naylor and second baseman Andres Gimenez are both out of the starting lineup on Friday against the Chicago White Sox. Gabriel Arias will fill in at the keystone for Gimenez and bat eighth, while Austin Hedges is doing the catching and is batting in the nine-hole against White Sox left-hander Garrett Crochet. Neither Arias nor Hedges should be much of a consideration in DFS for Friday's lineups. Naylor is off to a slow start, unlike his brother, in 2024, as he's hitting just .189/.280/.295 with three home runs and nine RBI in his first 30 games. Gimenez is slashing .248/.316/.333 with one long ball, 19 RBI, five stolen bases and 19 runs scored in 141 at-bats as Cleveland's regular second baseman. Both Naylor and Gimenez should be back in action on Saturday.
