The Colorado Rockies announced on Friday that they placed left-hander Kyle Freeland (elbow) on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to April 16) with a left-elbow strain and recalled right-hander Noah Davis from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move. Freeland injured his right, non-throwing shoulder on a slide into home plate as a pinch-runner earlier this week but is now dealing with a left-elbow injury. The 30-year-old southpaw could be out longer than just two weeks, depending on the exact nature of his elbow injury. It's unclear who will take Freeland's spot in the starting rotation, but it could be Davis. Freeland was scheduled to make his next start on Saturday against the Seattle Mariners. After a 13.21 ERA with eight walks and nine K's in his first four starts, fantasy managers in mixed leagues can drop him for now.

Colorado Rockies left-hander Kyle Freeland (shoulder) said he's fine on Tuesday after getting injured in Monday night's extra-inning loss while sliding into home plate as a pinch-runner late in the game. Freeland will throw like normal in between his starts and be good to go at some point this weekend for a matchup against the Seattle Mariners. The 30-year-old southpaw's injury was to his right, non-throwing shoulder, so it shouldn't affect his next start at all. Even though Seattle's offense hasn't looked good at all early this year, Freeland will still be a shaky streaming option in fantasy after posting a rough 13.21 ERA and 2.55 WHIP with eight walks and nine strikeouts in his first four starts. Freeland currently leads the league in hits allowed (32) and earned runs allowed (23).

Colorado Rockies left-hander Kyle Freeland (shoulder) suffered an apparent right-shoulder injury in Monday's loss to the Philadelphia Phillies when he collided with relief pitcher Jeff Hoffman on a wild pitch when he was called out sliding into home plate. Freeland looked to be in a lot of pain, but we'll pass along word when we have more condition on the severity of the injury to his right, non-throwing shoulder. The 30-year-old southpaw was forced to run in this game with the Rockies having a short-handed bench to begin the week due to injuries and illnesses. On top of his injury, Freeland has been dreadful on the mound so far this year, going 0-3 with a 13.21 ERA (6.31 FIP) and 2.55 WHIP with eight walks and nine strikeouts in 15 2/3 innings in his four starts. He leads the league in hits allowed (32) and earned runs (23).
