Bo Bichette Activated And Starting On Tuesday

The Toronto Blue Jays activated shortstop Bo Bichette (calf) from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday and optioned outfielder Steward Berroa to Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move. It ended up being a minimal stay on the injured list for Bichette, who was dealing with a minor calf injury. The 26-year-old All-Star is back at shortstop and is batting leadoff for the team on Tuesday against the Boston Red Sox and right-hander Brayan Bello at Fenway Park. Despite the fact that Bichette hasn't looked like himself this year, fantasy managers in single-year leagues will want to insert him into their starting lineups. He's hit .417 with a 1.000 OPS and an RBI in 12 career at-bats versus Bello. In 52 plate appearances in June before his injury, Bichette had gone 10-for-49 (.204) with four doubles and three RBI in 13 games.

Bo Bichette On Track To Return Tuesday

Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette (calf) ran the bases, did some hitting and also did some fielding on Monday and is on pace to return from the injured list on Monday. Bichette's calf injury was never all that serious, but the Blue Jays opted to play it safe with one of their best players and put him on the IL. The 26-year-old should be back in Toronto's lineup on Tuesday and will be hoping to turn things around at the plate after what has so far been a rough season offensively. In his absence, Isiah Kiner-Falefa has been serving as the team's starter at the 6 with Bichette on the shelf. The former second-round pick in 2016 will return to a .237/.286/.342 slash line with just four home runs, 28 RBI, four steals and 22 runs scored in 257 at-bats. Bichette had gone 10-for-49 (.204) with no no homers and three RBI in 13 games in June before going on the IL.

Bo Bichette Targeting Return Tuesday

Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette (calf) took ground balls, hit in batting cages, and ran the bases in Cleveland on Friday ahead of the series opener against the hosting Guardians. Bichette will continue ramping up his activity through the weekend, and he's targeting a return from the injured when first eligible ahead of Tuesday's contest against the division-rival Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. The 26-year-old two-time All-Star infielder is working his way back from a strained right calf, and it doesn't look as if he'll need any kind of abbreviated minor-league rehab assignment before re-entering Toronto's lineup. Bichette has scuffled at the plate for most of the season, but he's a hitting machine when he's locked in, and he was batting an encouraging .286 (36-for-126) with three home runs, eight doubles, 16 RBI, and one stolen base over his last 32 outings before going on the IL.
