Congratulations to Max Verstappen, who secured his third straight drivers championship with an amazing season. Red Bull has wrapped up the Constructor championship, so the storyline going forward is if anyone can beat Max and which drivers are in danger of losing their seat.
There have been 10 races at COTA for F1, and nobody has ever won starting further back than third.
This may be the year where that streak comes to an end. Verstappen will start sixth despite having a pole-winning car. If he can make it through the first lap with no carnage, then I expect him to work his way to the front. Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton will do all they can to make sure that Max stays behind them, as this is a track where starting position generally correlates to strong results.
Charles Leclerc- Leclerc has a bit of a buffer to try to pull away from the field and hope Max gets caught up in melee or put in a bad spot by the field. He should hang around the podium spots all day.
Lewis Hamilton- Hamilton should podium in this race and be in contention for the win. He will be the CPT in 40% of my lineups.
Lando Norris- Norris should easily outrun Piastri and keep McLaren alive for fourth in the constructor race. His price is a bit prohibitive, so I am only playing him in MME. Only playing if fading Max entirely.
Max Verstappen- Max is the favorite to win of course, but he is only viable to me as a D due to the inability to place a competitive lineup around him.
Yuki Tsunoda- Tsunoda should be able to get into the back end of the points and beat returning teammate, Ricciardo.
Alexander Albon- Albon is nearly a weekly lock to get the beat-teammate bonus points. There is also no negative potential here.
Guanyu Zhou/Valtteri Bottas- The upgrades that have been implemented are encouraging for this team. I want some exposure to both.
