The Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt writes that the connection between New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers and top wide receiver Garrett Wilson is growing during voluntary organized team activities this offseason. Wilson ran such a good route in practice on Tuesday that he wound up wide open in the middle of the field for an easy touchdown, and he had another catch on a pass from Rodgers in which he was able to adjust his body in mid-air to catch a pass that was thrown a little behind him. Wilson is "as advertised," according to new receivers coach Shawn Jefferson. "This kid can be whatever he wants to be. He has that it ... the sky is the limit for this kid." If Rodgers can stay healthy all year, Wilson will also have high-end WR1 value for fantasy managers in 2024. The former 10th overall pick has topped 1,000 yards in both his NFL seasons despite subpar QB play.
New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson (neck, elbow), who suffered a neck injury in the Week 18 win over the New England Patriots in the regular season finale on Sunday, said he is fine. Wilson also said he doesn't think he needs surgery for an elbow injury that he dealt with all year. The 23-year-old was believed to have suffered a head injury when he took a hard hit in Sunday's contest, but he avoided any kind of serious injury and will have a normal offseason as he heads into his third NFL season. Despite losing quarterback Aaron Rodgers to a torn Achilles in Week 1, Wilson finished with 95 catches for 1,042 yards and three touchdowns in 2023. His 168 targets ranked fourth among all wideouts. With more stability under center hopefully in 2024, the sky is the limit for Wilson.
New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson (head) exited during the second half of Sunday's game against the New England Patriots. He is being evaluated for a concussion. At the time of his departure, the second-year wideout had caught just two of five targets for 23 yards. Snow, wind, and poor quarterback play have negatively impacted Wilson and the rest of his pass-catching teammates. Xavier Gipson and Jason Brownlee are next up on the depth chart, but neither of them has any appeal in redraft leagues.
New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson has managed to turn in a productive campaign despite the team's quarterback woes. He'll hope to conclude his second professional season on a high note against the New England Patriots in Week 18. While the Patriots' defense has been formidable, it has given up a fair amount of fantasy production to receivers. This contest is not expected to feature much scoring but Wilson should get enough opportunities to remain a viable fantasy option. The 23-year-old has amassed 25 looks over the past two weeks with Trevor Siemian under center and thus can be viewed as a solid WR2 on Sunday.
