Cleveland Browns wide receiver Cedric Tillman is expected to take on a more significant role moving forward. The Browns traded starting wide receiver Amari Cooper to the Buffalo Bills, creating a void in their receiver room. Tillman, a third-round pick in 2022, recorded 21 catches for 224 yards in his rookie season. With a significant portion of the target share opening up, Tillman may have real upside in the Browns' passing offense. However, that offense ranks near the bottom of the NFL, and fantasy managers should avoid investing in the Cleveland Browns' passing game. The 24-year-old is a speculative add-in to deep leagues, as he should see an increase in the target share with Cooper shipped to Buffalo.
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Cedric Tillman had a quiet rookie campaign after being selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Tennessee. He ran just 343 routes (74th) and hauled in 21 of his 44 targets for 244 yards and no touchdowns. However, Zac Jackson of the Athletic suggests he will get more opportunities in Year 2, despite the additions of Jerry Jeudy and rookie Jamari Thrash. "It's my belief that the Browns plan to open the season with Jeudy in the slot and [Amari] Cooper and Cedric Tillman out wide. Jeudy can play outside, too, and Elijah Moore will also see snaps inside and outside." Although Tillman could have limited upside if Deshaun Watson fails to bounce back to form from his time with the Houston Texans, this is an encouraging report for dynasty managers holding onto him. Tillman is usually available well into the late 200s in fantasy drafts, so he could be an underpriced sleeper candidate.
The Athletic's Zac Jackson writes that the Cleveland Browns believe wide receiver Cedric Tillman can make a second-year leap in 2024. Amari Cooper, Jerry Jeudy and Elijah Moore figure to start in most three-receiver sets this year, but Tillman should have an opportunity for a bigger role as the No. 4 as the season progresses. The 24-year-old third-round pick last year out of Tennessee caught 21 of his 44 targets for 224 yards and no touchdowns in 14 games (three starts) in 2023 in his rookie season. Behind Tillman, David Bell, rookie Jamari Thrash, James Proche II, Jaelon Darden and Michael Woods II will have to battle for playing time in training camp this summer. Tillman won't be worth drafting in standard-sized leagues this fall, but he could become intriguing as a waiver-wire pickup if one of the three starters goes down with injury at any point.
Cleveland Browns rookie wide receiver Cedric Tillman (concussion) has officially been ruled out for Saturday's wild-card contest against the Houston Texans. Tillman suffered a concussion in the Week 18 regular season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals and now will have to sit out for his first career playoff game. With Tillman out and Amari Cooper (heel) expected to return after missing the final two regular season games, Cooper, Elijah Moore and David Bell should operate as Cleveland's top three wideouts against Houston this weekend. The 23-year-old Tillman was seeing more involvement for the Browns down the stretch, but he still finished his first year in the NFL with only 21 catches for 224 yards and no touchdowns on 44 targets over 14 games.
Cleveland Browns rookie wide receiver Cedric Tillman (concussion) was unable to practice with the team on Wednesday. Tillman suffered a concussion in the Week 18 game against the Cincinnati Bengals and is in danger of missing the first postseason game of his career this Saturday against the Houston Texans. Thankfully for the Browns, Amari Cooper (heel), who missed the last two games of the regular season, said he will return for wild-card weekend. If Tillman isn't given the green light to play Saturday, David Bell should serve as Cleveland's No. 3 wideout behind Cooper and Elijah Moore. The 23-year-old Tillman had a very limited pass-catching role in his first season in the NFL, going for 21 catches on 44 targets for only 224 yards without finding the end zone a single time.
