Carolina Panthers wide receivers Adam Thielen (hamstring) and Xavier Legette (toe) were listed as limited participants in Thursday's practice. Thielen has not played since Week 3 due to a hamstring injury that caused him to go on the Injured Reserve list. Legette has had a solid start to his NFL career, catching 22 passes for 211 yards and three touchdowns. Both players saw a fantasy football value boost after Diontae Johnson was traded to the Baltimore Ravens, but it's tough to get too high on either player with quarterback Bryce Young under center. However, Thielen posted a 1,000-yard season with Young in 2023, so he could have PPR value in the second half of the 2024 campaign. Rookie Jalen Coker is also a candidate to benefit from Johnson's departure. Fantasy managers should monitor Legette's and Thilen's status on Friday before Week 9 start-or-sit decisions.
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Adam Thielen (hamstring) was a limited participant during Wednesday's practice session according to David Newton of ESPN. Thielen has been on the injured reserve since the third week of the season after sustaining an injury against the Las Vegas Raiders. However, the veteran wideout was able to practice in a limited capacity last week and seeing him continue to participate is promising sign. Fantasy managers should monitor his status throughout the week as he could return as early as this weekend to face the New Orleans Saints. With Diontae Johnson being shipped to the Baltimore Ravens, Thielen could eventually serve as the top pass catching option in Carolina down the stretch.
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Adam Thielen (hamstring) has been ruled out ahead of the Week 8 matchup against the Denver Broncos. Thielen was able to get through a few limited practices this week, but the team has decided to hold him out for at least one more game. This is not good news for quarterback Bryce Young who will be without both Thielen and Diontae Johnson (ribs) on Sunday. That being said, Xavier Legette, Jalen Coker, and Jonathan Mingo are going to be the primary receivers for Young. None of them have brought much to the table recently. Hopefully Thielen can return next game as it looks like he is making progress.
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Adam Thielen (hamstring) was limited in Thursday's practice for the second straight day this week after his 21-day practice window to return from Injured Reserve was officially opened on Wednesday. Thielen will be eligible to come off Injured Reserve to play in Week 8 against the Denver Broncos after missing the required four games, but it remains to be seen if the Panthers feel that the 34-year-old veteran has made enough progress to play on Sunday. He's likely to be listed as questionable on Friday's final injury report. Thielen's status will be even more important with Diontae Johnson's (rib) Week 8 status in question after two DNPs this week. If Thielen remains out and Johnson is also out or limited against Denver, quarterback Bryce Young might have rookie Xavier Legette and Jonathan Mingo as his top two wideouts.
The Carolina Panthers are opening wide receiver Adam Thielen's (hamstring) 21-day practice window on Wednesday for him to return from Injured Reserve. Thielen was placed on IR with a right-hamstring injury and he's already missed the required four games, meaning that if the Panthers like what they see from him in practices this week, they could activate him on Saturday and have him active for Week 8 against the Denver Broncos. The 34-year-old will slot into starting three-wide sets upon his return alongside Diontae Johnson and rookie Xavier Legette. In three games before getting injured, Thielen caught just eight of 12 targets for 109 yards and one touchdown. His fantasy upside upon his return won't be as high as it was a year ago with the rookie Legette becoming a part of this offense.
