Saquon Barkley Wants To Stay With Giants

New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley indicated on Wednesday that he'd like to remain with the team for the rest of his career. However, Barkley also said, "I just want something that's fair and that makes sense. That's really it. if it's not here, hopefully it's some other place," when discussing his next contract. The Giants and Barkley weren't really seeing eye to eye in 2023 before he was given the franchise tag and then ultimately a one-year deal. New York could use the franchise tag on the 26-year-old again in 2024, but he's clearly looking for a multi-year deal, even if it means leaving the Big Apple. Barkley didn't have much of a chance to be an RB1 for fantasy managers this year behind a terrible offensive line, but he made the most of his opportunities and is sitting on 916 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 229 attempts through 13 games, adding 39 catches for 229 yards and four more scores.

Elijah Mitchell Under The Weather Wednesday

San Francisco 49ers running back Elijah Mitchell (illness) wasn't feeling well on Wednesday and did not take part in practice with the rest of the team. Mitchell's status for the Week 18 regular season finale against the Los Angeles Rams this Sunday is of much greater importance to DFS gamers with Christian McCaffrey (calf) already being ruled out. The Niners have locked up the top seed in the NFC and a first-round bye in the playoffs, so they are going to be resting some starters this weekend. If Mitchell is at all questionable for Sunday's contest, they could just hold him out entirely and give him three weeks to rest up before the Divisional Round. Mitchell might not even have much upside if he plays, with reports suggesting Jordan Mason could be the lead back in Week 18.

Will Levis Doesn't Practice Wednesday

Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Will Levis (ankle, foot) did not practice with the team on Wednesday. Levis returned in last week's loss to the Houston Texans after a one-game absence due to an ankle sprain, but he attempted just six passes in Week 17 before injuring his right foot and never returning. It's an annoying but not serious foot injury for Levis, but with the Titans already out of playoff contention, they could choose to play it safe and sit the rookie. If Levis isn't cleared to play, veteran Ryan Tannehill would make another start in what is expected to be his last game with the Titans. Whoever starts under center for Tennessee to close out the regular season will be an uninspiring QB2 choice for fantasy managers still playing for something in deep superflex leagues.

Jalen Nailor Misses Practice With Concussion On Wednesday

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jalen Nailor (concussion) did not practice on Wednesday as his team began preparing to face off against the Detroit Lions in Week 18. The wideout has missed the past three games with a concussion and is apparently still in the league's concussion protocol as the Vikings prepare for their regular-season finale. Nailor will need to get onto the field in at least a limited capacity by Friday in order to have a shot at playing in Week 18.

Michael Mayer Does Not Practice Wednesday

Las Vegas Raiders tight end Michael Mayer (toe) missed practice on Wednesday as his team gears up to face off against the Denver Broncos in Week 18. Mayer has missed the past two games with his toe injury and could be in line to sit out of the regular-season finale with a missed practice to begin the week. The rookie tight end will have to get onto the practice field at least in a limited capacity by Friday if he wants to suit up in Week 18. If Mayer doesn't wind up playing, veteran Austin Hooper would operate as the Raiders' No. 1 TE.
